Comrades!
It's hard to believe, but we're in the thick of week 3 (though I think we could probably start every entry on this blog with "it's hard to believe"; this whole process is unbelievable). Despite the rough start of 7" of snow whiting out our first group training session on January 30th, we have run 9 very fun miles together on Team in Training's watch (though there was that very, very slow 2-miler in mid-January where we discussed how awesome TNT was gonna be when we started and how we needed to invest in, like, actual gloves to keep our actual hands actually warm-- in the words of our friend Kristin, "no doi").
We had our first team run on Saturday. We ran 3 hilly miles in Meadowmont at 7:30AM in 35 degrees and it was AWESOME. Even better, we're already shaving minutes off of our two-milers. I think it's safe to say we both have very, very sore glutes (Emily's "butt is shrinking").
In real news, this week we begin fundraising! We will be kickin' cancer by check and by paypal to start, with more adventurous ways to contribute to the LLS to come soon.
Elizabeth's fundraising webpage is located here (http://pages.teamintraining.org/nce/rnr10/elizphil). So go visit!
Perhaps some bios forthcoming? Sure hope so.

ReplyDeletei love you both so much
do you all take blog requests? cause here goes:
i'm interested in seeing your training schedule and numbers for your progress. i feel like this would motivate me to run more.
also, are you eating any differently? doing other exercise/crosstraining? handstands?
love
rajeev
Yeah totally! That's a great blog request. I'll compile a seroius entry about what we're up to, but the short version is:
ReplyDeleteSa- big run with the team where we set our mileage (3mi, then 4, 6, 8, 10, 10...)
Sun- 2 "junk" miles
M- off (but we will eventually XT on Mon)
T-speed run 30-40% the distance of our Sat run
W- pace run 30% the distance of our Sat run
R- XT (weights, elliptical, yoga, whatever)
F- off.
I've been eating a bit less and a bit healthier since Jan 1 so I can get my speed up to be where Emily is. But I have eaten a bunch of junk too. I think as we go along, debauchery and vices will fade away because they become such a detriment to building da heart. I personally do yoga like 5 days a week, maybe to a sweat 2 days a week, and headstands and handstands like everyday but that is because I Must Prove Myself to Andrei Droznin.
And I've not been counting yoga as my XT, or lifting weights (but I will start when the Monday XT starts).
